Underwriting Operations Specialist
Location: Overland Park, KS — onsite, hybrid, or remote within regional proximity for periodic training and team alignment
The Numbers: 60K – 95K Base Comp (range driven by insurance vertical exposure, system fluency, and operational ownership depth — meaningful headroom for the right operator)
The Big Picture
This is a specialty insurance platform operating at scale across dealer solutions and underwriting programs, backed by one of the strongest balance sheets in the space. With operations centralized in Overland Park, the firm is actively building out its underwriting hub to support rapid growth across multiple product lines. The environment blends volume, complexity, and real-time execution inside a structure designed to move.
The Mission
You are stepping into the operational core of the underwriting engine. This role exists to ensure that data, process, and execution stay aligned as business flows through the system—from initial intake to ongoing lifecycle management. The endgame is simple: remove friction, maintain accuracy, and keep production underwriting moving at full speed without breakdowns in process.
The Daily Grind (The Good Kind)
This is an execution role inside a high-functioning system—precision and pace both matter.
- Pipeline Control: Own the intake, setup, and movement of policy data as it enters the system, ensuring clean handoffs into underwriting.
- Lifecycle Management: Execute mid-term changes, endorsements, and policy updates with accuracy while maintaining full audit integrity.
- Renewal Coordination: Drive timelines around renewals, tracking missing data and keeping deals from stalling before effective dates.
- System Accuracy: Maintain clean, audit-ready records across internal platforms while solving data discrepancies in real time.
- Operational Throughput: Manage a high-volume workflow without letting speed compromise detail or compliance standards.
Your Toolkit
Preferred traits over rigid boxes—this is built around how you operate, not just what’s on paper.
- The Battle Scars: Experience inside an insurance agency, carrier, MGA, or program environment where workflow volume and deadlines are real.
- Technical Mastery: Familiarity with policy systems, underwriting platforms, or high-volume data environments (insurance-specific exposure is preferred, not mandatory).
- Detail Threshold: You operate comfortably in environments where accuracy is non-negotiable and timelines are tight.
- Communication Edge: You can move information forward—whether that’s internal teams or external partners—without creating drag in the system.
The Payoff
This is where the role separates from standard “ops” positions.
- Professional Autonomy: You’ll own your workflow inside a system that trusts execution over micromanagement.
- Culture & Trajectory: Join one of the fastest-growing segments within a larger platform where internal mobility and cross-training are the norm, not the exception. Many team members expand into new product lines or underwriting paths over time.
- Competitive Package: 60K – 95K base comp with strong upside tied to experience level, plus full benefits. Proximity to the Overland Park hub naturally creates more visibility and advancement opportunities, though not as a formal requirement.
