Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney

We are seeking experienced Insurance Defense Litigation Attorneys to join our practice in fully remote positions. Candidates must reside in California, with a preference for Southern California, particularly the San Diego area.

• Fully Remote
• $165,000 – $200,000+ DOE
• 1,900 Annual Billable Hours

Our practice handles a broad range of complex civil defense matters, including personal injury, premises liability, construction-related claims, product liability, and other commercial and casualty litigation.

We are looking for attorneys who understand California litigation practice and procedure and have the experience necessary to manage matters with a high degree of independence.

Responsibilities

• Handle insurance defense and civil litigation matters in California state and federal courts.
• Manage cases through discovery, depositions, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and dispositive motions.
• Take and defend depositions, including witnesses and experts.
• Participate in mediations, hearings, and trials.
• Work independently while maintaining strong communication with clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar admission.
• Generally 3+ years of substantive litigation experience, with 5–10 years preferred.
• Strong knowledge of California civil litigation practice and procedure.
• Experience taking depositions and handling substantive motion practice.
• Trial experience is strongly preferred, including second-chair participation.
• Insurance defense experience preferred, particularly involving casualty and liability claims.
• Strong legal writing, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage responsibilities independently in a fully remote environment.

We place greater value on the quality of litigation experience than the number of years an attorney has practiced. Candidates with substantial hands-on litigation and trial experience are encouraged to apply, even if they have fewer years in practice.

Compensation & Work Arrangement

• Base salary of approximately $165,000 to $200,000+, depending on experience.
• 1,900 annual billable hours.
• Fully remote position for attorneys residing in California.
• Southern California candidates preferred, particularly San Diego.
