Insurance Coverage Senior Associate

We are seeking a Senior Associate with significant experience in Insurance Coverage and Professional Liability matters to join our practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-exposure coverage disputes and professional liability defense matters for insurers and insureds across a broad range of industries.

Insurance Coverage

• Analyze and interpret complex insurance policies, including:
• • Property and casualty (including CGL)
  • Professional liability
  • EPLI
  • D&O
  • Wrap-up policies
  • Media liability
  • Life, accident, and health insurance
• Provide coverage opinions and strategic counseling to insurers.
• Advise on self-insurance programs, high-deductible programs, risk pools, and alternative risk vehicles.
• Counsel insurance companies on bad faith claims and claims-handling issues.
• Handle disputes involving primary and excess insurance carriers.
• Manage coverage litigation from inception through resolution, including dispositive motions, discovery, mediation, arbitration, and trial.

Professional Liability Defense

• Defend professionals including:
• • Attorneys
  • Insurance agents and brokers
  • Financial advisors
  • Real estate agents and brokers
  • Directors and officers
  • Construction managers
  • Architects and engineers
• Litigate claims involving:
• • Breach of fiduciary duty
  • Misrepresentation and fraud
  • Negligence
  • Statutory violations
  • Errors and omissions

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission in IL
• 5-10 years of experience in insurance coverage and/or professional liability litigation.
• Demonstrated experience drafting coverage opinions and litigating complex coverage disputes.
• Strong motion practice, deposition, and courtroom experience.
• Ability to manage cases independently.
• Experience advising insurance carriers on bad faith and claims handling matters preferred.
