Job Details
This role installs, maintains, and repairs process instrumentation in a 24/7 industrial plant, ensuring compliance with applicable electrical codes. You will lead instrumentation projects and work with Engineering, Maintenance, Refinery, and the Boiler Room to keep operations running.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Perform preventive maintenance on process instrumentation and related equipment
Trace and verify process lines to ensure systems are safe before work begins (LOTO)
Inspect and test control valves, RTDs, thermocouples, flow meters, differential pressure devices, switches, and transmitters
Troubleshoot, repair, and PM control valves, positioners, and pneumatic and electric actuators
Troubleshoot and repair Allen Bradley and Honeywell PLC issues, including rack faults, I/O cards, blown fuses, ladder logic, descriptors, forced bits, and PLC addresses
Upload projects to a PLC and modify basic logic diagrams
Troubleshoot Honeywell TDC systems and, with additional training, repair them
Support commissioning and startup of new and modified instrumentation
Use blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer manuals to complete projects
Estimate materials and interface with vendors to order parts and instruments
Use E-Maintenance software to manage work orders
Create and update logic and electrical diagrams, instrument spec sheets, and calibration records
Qualifications
Previous instrumentation and controls experience in an industrial, plant, or shipboard environment
3 to 5 years of related work experience for Level 3 and Level 4 consideration
Hands on experience with control valves, actuators, positioners, switches, and transmitters
PLC troubleshooting on Allen Bradley, Honeywell, ABB, Siemens, or comparable platforms
Commissioning, startup, and technical diagnostic experience preferred
Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and logic diagrams
Microsoft Office and Excel, SAP or similar ERP, and a CMMS such as E-Maintenance
Availability to support the annual plant shutdown
