At Temple University College of Public Health, we understand that individual outcomes are intricately tied to the larger systems we inhabit. We are an institution embedded in a mission-based university dedicated to a broad definition of public health, which we see as encompassing a spectrum of academic and professional disciplines, ranging from epidemiology to nursing, from social work to rehabilitation sciences.

Temple University College of Public Health's interprofessional culture fosters collaboration both within and outside the college. We value differences among our faculty and believe that we can better serve and understand our Philadelphia community through the array of our individual faculty's perspectives, experiences, and disciplines. Join us in our mission to develop engaged, compassionate researchers, practitioners, and clinicians to build a better tomorrow, grounded in creating the environments and health infrastructure that will make us the healthiest nation.

THE POSITION. Temple University College of Public Health is seeking a full-time doctorally prepared Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) faculty for a non-tenure track position teaching primarily in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (post-baccalaureate and post-masters) programs. Teaching in Bachelor of Science nursing programs is also required. Successful candidate will join a diverse group of nursing faculty experts and clinicians who have invested their careers in assuring practice readiness for future generations of nurses, nurse practitioners, and nurse leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS. Prospective candidates will possess a national certification as an FNP, CRNP license in Pennsylvania as well as clinical and teaching experience in FNP specialty. A doctoral degree in nursing is also required. Eligibility for academic rank and compensation commensurate with teaching, clinical, and leadership experience. The nursing faculty will teach didactic and clinical courses (as assigned) 9 months per year.

THE DEPARTMENT. As of July 2023, Dr. Amita Avadhani has been appointed Chair and Director of the Department of Nursing. This appointment of a national leader in nurse education will provide nursing students an exceptional opportunity to learn in an environment committed to preparing practitioners to face today and tomorrow's clinical challenges. We are also excited to strengthen our already deep ties between the College of Public Health and Temple University Health System. The Department aims to be a leading force in community-engaged, collaborative efforts to achieve high quality health and lives for all, preparing a nursing workforce ready to address the care needs of all patients and who excel in leadership, practice, research and scholarship. We aspire to provide excellence in academic programming that is responsive to the health needs of individuals and populations within the context of community, defined as a social and physical environment where living occurs. We are committed to the highest level of prevention-oriented and evidence-based caregiving, provided in collaboration with the community and other professionals and disciplines. The Department of Nursing enrolls nearly 500 students annually and offers two accredited programs.

Our eight-semester Bachelor of Science in Nursing program with freshman admission is recognized for its high NCLEX pass rate, clinical affiliations with outstanding healthcare facilities in the Philadelphia area with a service-learning focus. Our Doctor of Nursing Practice program includes post-baccalaureate and post-master's options with concentrations in Adult Gerontology Primary Care and Family-Individual Across the Lifespan. The post-master's program prepares graduates for leadership roles in various settings. Expansion of graduate program offerings is anticipated and will include additional DNP specialties, post-master's certificates, and a direct-entry master's program for non-nursing college graduates.

THE COLLEGE. Devoted to an interprofessional environment for education, research, and practice, the CEPH-accredited College of Public Health consists of academic units in the public health disciplines, health professions, and the School of Social Work, enrolling approximately 4,200 students. The College's research aims to understand the fundamental factors that affect the health and well-being of individuals and populations by examining health problems through foundational research, policy and practice, and the development and dissemination of evidence-based interventions. Our strengths include work in cancer, obesity, HIV, substance abuse, mental illness, mobility research, cognition and language, developmental disabilities, organ transplantation and aging. CP
