Position Overview

The Information Assurance Team Lead helps establish and lead a new Information Assurance team responsible for protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information technology assets across both unclassified and classified networks.

This role provides technical leadership, mentoring, and oversight for Information Assurance Engineers while ensuring information systems are securely configured, maintained, assessed, and operated in accordance with applicable policies, standards, regulations, and cybersecurity requirements. The Information Assurance Team Lead also supports security assessments, risk management, system accreditation, audit readiness, security monitoring, and personnel management activities.

Key Responsibilities

Information Assurance and Cybersecurity Oversight

• Oversee the security of information systems to ensure they are properly secured, maintained, and compliant with established policies, standards, and regulations.
• Conduct and oversee security assessments, vulnerability scans, and risk analyses to identify potential threats and system weaknesses.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation actions to address identified cybersecurity vulnerabilities and deficiencies.
• Monitor system activity to identify unauthorized access, malware, and other potential security threats.
• Support continuous improvement of security controls and system protection measures.

Compliance, Risk Management, and Accreditation

• Ensure systems comply with applicable security frameworks, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in security audits and compliance assessments.
• Coordinate system certification and accreditation activities to ensure security requirements are satisfied prior to deployment.
• Support risk assessments, IT audits, security planning, system accreditation, and policy development.
• Prepare for and respond to information security audits, questionnaires, and other compliance activities.

Security Integration and Collaboration

• Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and other organizational teams to integrate security into system development and maintenance processes.
• Ensure cybersecurity controls and security measures align with operational and business objectives.
• Provide technical guidance related to information assurance, system security, and cybersecurity compliance.

Team Leadership and Personnel Management

• Lead and mentor Information Assurance Engineers and other assigned IA personnel.
• Provide coaching, technical guidance, and professional development support.
• Conduct performance assessments for assigned personnel.
• Validate and approve time charging for assigned personnel.
• Support establishment and development of the Information Assurance team.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 12+ years of prior relevant experience. [Required]
• Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience

• Experience leading cybersecurity or Information Assurance teams. [Required]
• Experience performing risk assessments, IT audits, security planning, system accreditation, and policy development. [Required]
• Experience complying with U.S. Government, DoD, and DA regulations and preparing for and responding to information security audits and questionnaires. [Required]
• Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems and scripting languages. [Required]
• Experience working with IDS/IPS technologies and associated processes. [Required]

Skills

• Understanding of information technology and security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, virtualization, Data Loss Prevention, and physical security assets. [Required]
• Knowledge of domain structures, user authentication, data encryption, access audits, and end-user security best practices. [Required]
• Ability to provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to Information Assurance personnel.

Certifications

• Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher requirements, such as Security+ CE or a higher qualifying certification. [Required]

Clearance

• Active TS/SCI security clearance. [Required]

Other Requirements

• Ability to pass additional customer suitability screening prior to start. [Required]
• Willingness and ability to complete and maintain additional customer suitability screenings throughout employment. [Required]
• Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC. [Required]
