Industrial Maintenance Technician
We are looking for a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our team in Akron, Ohio. This position is ideal for candidates with mechanical or industrial maintenance experience or training who are eager to support large industrial equipment and facility systems.
Joining a busy metal processing operation, you will play a vital role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery used for recycling metals and metal byproducts. Alongside industrial equipment upkeep, you will assist with building and facilities maintenance, ensuring smooth and safe operations. Hours: 7:30am 4:00pm, Monday Friday. Overtime available on Saturdays.
Pay: $27.00/hour, based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on production equipment
Perform preventive maintenance and suggest improvements to maintenance schedules
Replace worn parts, fluids, and test/adjust components for proper operation
Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records; identify critical spare parts
Execute assignments aligned with your skillset and report on progress
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
Communicate daily with maintenance leadership regarding assignments, machine conditions, and issues impacting production
Regularly inspect motors, gearboxes, shafts, fluids, filters, and other equipment
Maintain a clean and safe work area following 5S principles
Perform general building maintenance such as replacing doors, fixtures, and changing lights
Minimum Requirements
1+ years of experience repairing/maintaining mechanical equipment or vocational/trade school training in mechanical or manufacturing maintenance
Knowledge of general mechanical systems and operation
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with various hand and power tools
Ability to work in a dirty environment and occasionally wear a respirator
Steel-toed shoes/boots required; all other PPE provided
Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols
Nice to Have Skills
Welding knowledge and experience
Own hand tools (not required but a plus)
Preferred Education and Experience
Vocational or trade school training in mechanical or manufacturing maintenance
Mechanical repair/maintenance experience in industrial settings
Other Requirements
Must be willing to get dirty
Ability to occasionally wear a respirator
On-site work required at Akron facility
