A bit about us:

Founded over a decade ago and based in Shaker Heights, Ohio, we are an engineering and prototype services company that transforms early-stage concepts into functional hardware. We design and build custom machinery, electromechanical prototypes, fixtures, test systems, production tooling, and automation equipment while supporting projects from initial development through machining, fabrication, assembly, integration, and production launch.

Why join us?

Hands-On Project Work: Machine custom components used in prototypes, tooling, fixtures, automated equipment, and production systems.
High-Variety Environment: Work primarily with one-off and low-volume parts rather than repetitive production runs.
Direct Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and builders to convert designs into functional hardware.
Broad Project Exposure: Support equipment and products spanning medical devices, manufacturing automation, EV service tooling, and custom machinery.
Visible Impact: Your work will directly influence whether prototypes and production systems function as designed.
Contract Opportunity: Join the team for a defined project or period with the possibility of extension based on workload and performance.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Set up and operate CNC machines to produce prototype, tooling, fixture, and low-volume production components.
Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
Program CNC equipment using CAM software or make edits directly at the machine control.
Determine appropriate tooling, workholding, cutting parameters, and machining sequences.
Perform frequent setups and changeovers for one-off and short-run components.
Machine parts from various metals and engineering plastics based on project requirements.
Inspect completed components using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measurement equipment.
Verify dimensional accuracy throughout the machining process and make necessary offsets or program adjustments.
Troubleshoot tooling, workholding, programming, finish, and dimensional issues.
Collaborate with engineers to identify manufacturability concerns and recommend practical design modifications.
Create or modify fixtures and workholding solutions for custom components.
Deburr, finish, and prepare machined parts for assembly or integration.
Maintain accurate documentation for programs, tooling, setups, and inspection results.
Support manual machining, fabrication, assembly, and prototype development when project needs require it.
Maintain machines, tooling, and a safe, organized work area.
Adapt quickly to changing priorities, evolving designs, and urgent project requirements.

Qualifications Needed:

High school diploma or GED required; machining, CNC, or manufacturing training preferred.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on CNC machining experience, ideally within a prototype, job-shop, tooling, or low-volume environment.
Experience independently setting up and operating CNC milling equipment.
Ability to program CNC equipment using CAM software, conversational programming, or G-code.
Strong blueprint-reading skills, including dimensions, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Experience selecting cutting tools, establishing work offsets, determining speeds and feeds, and developing machining sequences.
Ability to machine one-off and short-run parts without relying on fully established production processes.
Experience inspecting finished parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
Proven ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, workholding, and dimensional problems.
Ability to work directly with engineers and provide practical design-for-manufacturing feedback.
Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving shop where responsibilities may extend beyond operating a single machine.
Must be available to work on-site in Shaker Heights for the duration of the contract.

Preferred:

Experience machining both metal and engineered plastic components.
Background producing prototype parts, custom fixtures, tooling, or components for automated machinery.
Experience creating custom workholding and machining components from CAD models.
Manual mill, lathe, fabrication, or mechanical assembly experience.
Previous contract or project-based machining experience.
