The HVAC Technician II is a part-time position responsible for supporting the maintenance and operation of Sinclair College's state-of-the-art campus facilities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable building operations through the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of HVAC, plumbing, building and related mechanical systems.

The technician is responsible for monitoring facility systems, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment performance and reliability. This position supports campus-wide building operations by maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing equipment while responding to service requests in a timely manner to minimize downtime and ensure occupant comfort.

In addition, the HVAC Technician II assists with general maintenance activities and collaborates with other facilities personnel to support the College's operational and maintenance objectives.

The hourly pay rate for this position is $23.84 and has a maximum of 28 hours per week. This position will be located at the Sinclair Centerville Campus in Centerville, Ohio.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and control system problems to ensure reliable facility operations
  • Support preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance, efficiency, and service life

Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of all facility HVAC and related building systems, including:

  • Air handling units (AHUs)
  • Hot water boiler systems
  • Chilled water systems
  • Packaged air conditioning units
  • Freezers and walk-in coolers
  • Commercial kitchen equipment
  • Auxiliary electrical systems associated with HVAC equipment and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of previous work experience in facilities HVAC maintenance and/or commercial/industrial construction required
  • Ability to troubleshoot flaws, work orders, equipment, classroom furniture, and theater seating required
  • Basic skills of all buildings and maintenance trades are required
  • Self-starter, capable of working alone or supervising students and other available personnel required
  • Ability to draw diagrams for specific events, either using software or by hand, so clients can visualize what will fit in the rooms, and what will not be required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients via phone, email, and in-person meetings to assess their needs and provide guidance that supports the successful planning and execution of events
