Commercial HVAC Lead Technician
Job Description
Position Summary
The Commercial HVAC Lead Technician is responsible for leading the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. This position provides technical leadership to field technicians, ensures projects are completed safely and efficiently, and maintains the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise HVAC technicians on commercial service, maintenance, and installation projects.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain RTUs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, VRF systems, and controls.
• Coordinate daily field activities, manpower, materials, and equipment.
• Review blueprints, specifications, and job scopes.
• Perform system startups, testing, balancing, and commissioning.
• Train and mentor technicians.
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure OSHA compliance.
• Communicate with customers, facility managers, and contractors.
• Maintain service records and documentation.
• Participate in on-call and emergency service rotations.
Qualifications
Required: 7+ years of commercial HVAC experience, EPA Universal Certification, valid driver license, strong troubleshooting skills, and ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams. Preferred: NATE Certification, OSHA 10/30, BAS experience, and prior leadership experience.
