Health Information Management/Medical Records Manager

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will plan and direct site operations of the Medical Records/Health Information Management Department. Plan for system design and improvement and develop compliance plans to ensure compliance with applicable standards laws and regulations.
Essential Duties:
Develops relevant policies and procedures.
Required to oversee the HIM Department functions (legal medical record, record completion, release of information) for multiple locations.
The HIM Manager collaborates with Information Technology and other departments in the development of electronic content, data standards and completeness of documentation that ensures the integrity of the medical record.
Must plan, develop, and implement systems and processes to ensure delivery of efficient and effective services that meet the clinical and business needs at WCHC.
Supervises the work and employees of the Medical Records Department.
Analyzes systems and makes recommendations for improvement.
Implements medical records conversion projects.
Implements medical records storage project.
Answers or arranges for a subordinate to answer court subpoenas to produce medical records and other medical correspondence as required.
Represents the department at meetings as required.
Prepares monthly statistical reports.
Provide relevant in-service education to departmental staff.
Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
Order supplies and maintain inventories.
Rotates between Health Center sites as directed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Masters preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills and managerial skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Working knowledge of EHR systems.
Thorough knowledge of Health Information Management standards and requirements.
Knowledge of applicable laws.
RHIA with two (2) years' experience at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with professional and non-professional personnel; Ability to supervise the work of staff, good judgement, tact, initiative, and resourcefulness.
