    About the Company

Our client is an early-stage, private equity-backed commercial services platform operating within a large and highly fragmented industry. The organization is building a national platform through a combination of organic growth and an active acquisition strategy, bringing together leading local and regional businesses under a scalable operating model.

With a distributed, field-based workforce and significant growth ahead, the company is focused on building the infrastructure, leadership capabilities, and culture needed to successfully scale while maintaining the entrepreneurial spirit of its operating businesses.

    About the Role

The Head of People will serve as the senior HR leader for the organization and a key partner to the executive leadership team. This is a hands-on, highly visible role responsible for building the HR function and people infrastructure needed to support rapid organic and acquisition-driven growth.

The ideal candidate is both a builder and an integrator: someone who can establish foundational HR capabilities while creating a repeatable approach to integrating acquired businesses, aligning cultures, developing leaders, and supporting a growing, multi-location field workforce.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute the people strategy supporting the organization’s growth objectives.
    • Build scalable HR infrastructure, processes, policies, and operating rhythms for a rapidly growing, multi-entity organization.
    • Lead HR due diligence, risk assessment, and post-acquisition integration for add-on acquisitions.
    • Develop a repeatable HR integration playbook encompassing organizational design, culture, talent retention, leadership alignment, and harmonization of people practices.
    • Develop talent acquisition and retention strategies to support a distributed, field-based workforce.
    • Build succession planning, leadership development, and talent strategies that create a strong pipeline of field and operational leaders.
    • Oversee core HR operations, including employee relations, benefits, payroll, onboarding, compliance, and workforce practices.
    • Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of HR technology and use workforce data and analytics to support decision-making.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including multi-state, union, and workforce-specific requirements.
    • Build and strengthen a high-performance, accountable culture while maintaining appropriate flexibility across acquired businesses.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
    • Experience within a private equity-backed and/or high-growth organization.
    • Significant experience supporting a distributed, multi-site and field-based workforce.
    • Hands-on experience with M&A, including HR due diligence and post-close integration.
    • Demonstrated success building or significantly scaling HR infrastructure in an early-stage or rapidly growing environment.
    • Experience with labor union compliance.
    • Strong knowledge of multi-state employment law and HR compliance.
    • Experience implementing and leveraging HRIS platforms and workforce analytics.
    • Commercial services, contracting services, skilled trades, field services, or similar industry experience preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or HR certification preferred.
    • Willingness to travel as needed to support acquisitions, integrations, and operating locations.

    Leadership Profile

This opportunity is best suited for a hands-on HR leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between strategic leadership and day-to-day execution, building solutions where none currently exist, and operating with a high degree of accountability and ownership.

The organization operates with a strong focus on disciplined execution, measurable performance, accountability, and having the right people in the right roles.
