About the role

As Head of Finance & Operations, you'll be the operational and financial engine of the firm. This is a builder's dream role:

• You'll operate and help extend the existing AI-automated back office systems, tools, vendors, and internal processes.
• You'll design, maintain and implement the systems, processes, and controls that let the investment team focus on investing.
• You'll wear many hats across fund finance, firm operations, compliance, and people — reporting directly to the partners and acting as a key member of the leadership team.

This is a fully remote position with regular (monthly) travel to Austin for team onsites, LP meetings, and firm-building work. Comfort with autonomy, ambiguity, and rolling up your sleeves is essential — early on you'll do the work yourself before you build the team to scale it.

Fund finance & administration

• Oversee and coordinate the full fund accounting lifecycle in partnership with our fund administrator, auditors, and tax advisors
• Oversee and coordinate quarterly and annual financial reporting, NAV calculations, and management company financials provided by fund admin
• Lead the annual audit and tax filing (K-1s, fund returns) processes end to end in coordination with external tax and audit firms
• Track fund performance metrics (IRR, TVPI, DPI) and prepare materials for LP reporting

Investor relations & LP reporting

• Serve as a primary operational point of contact for LPs on finance, reporting, and onboarding questions
• Prepare quarterly LP updates
• Support future fundraising with data rooms, track-record analysis, and due-diligence responses

Firm operations

• You'll operate and help extend the existing AI-automated back office systems, tools, vendors, and internal processes
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, expenses, and cash management for the management company
• Own portfolio investment operations — wiring, closing mechanics, cap-table and ownership tracking
• Coordinate co-investment process — entity formation, side letters, closing mechanics, cap-table and ownership tracking
• Establish and document scalable workflows across the deal lifecycle

Compliance & legal

• Coordinate with outside counsel on fund formation, co-investments, LPA compliance, and regulatory matters
• Maintain compliance policies and manage regulatory filings (e.g. Form ADV / exempt reporting adviser obligations, etc.)
• Oversee KYC/AML processes for LP onboarding and investment transactions

People & culture

• Own HR operations: payroll, benefits, contractor management, and onboarding

Who you are

• 5+ years of relevant experience across fund finance, accounting, or operations — ideally at a venture capital firm or fund administrator
• Deep understanding of fund structures, waterfall/carry mechanics, capital calls, and LP reporting
• Strong command of fund accounting principles and comfort partnering with fund admins, auditors, and tax advisors
• A builder's mindset — energized by designing and improving upon the systems rather than inheriting them
• Exceptional attention to detail and discretion with sensitive financial and personal information
• Excellent communicator who can translate financial complexity for founders, partners, and LPs
• Highly self-directed and effective in a remote-first environment
• Willing and able to travel to Austin on a regular cadence (monthly) and other areas domestically as needed
