Grid Systems Consultant

Location: Dallas, TX

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Grid Systems Consultant to lead enterprise-level Digital Grid Management implementations for electric utility clients. This consultant will guide projects throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), serving as a trusted advisor from requirements gathering through deployment and post-production support.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience implementing AspenTech Digital Grid Management solutions, including the AspenTech Monarch Platform, along with extensive knowledge of utility operational technologies such as ADMS, OMS, EMS, DMS, and SCADA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead functional and technical activities throughout all phases of large-scale Digital Grid Management implementations.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for AspenTech Monarch Platform solutions and associated OMS, ADMS, DMS, EMS, and SCADA applications.
  • Facilitate client workshops and stakeholder meetings to gather, document, validate, and manage business and technical requirements.
  • Develop solution designs, workflows, configuration specifications, interface designs, and implementation documentation.
  • Lead requirements traceability, test planning, test execution, defect management, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate system integrations involving OMS, ADMS, SCADA, EMS, GIS, AMI, DERMS, and Distribution Automation systems.
  • Lead system commissioning, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment planning, cutover activities, and production go-live support.
  • Analyze utility business processes and operational workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Develop project schedules, status reports, risk assessments, mitigation plans, and executive-level communications.
  • Support software evaluations, vendor assessments, and RFP development efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, technical teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Deliver client training, knowledge transfer sessions, operational readiness activities, and post-deployment support.
  • Troubleshoot complex application, integration, and operational issues.
  • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to continuous improvement of delivery methodologies and best practices.
  • Assist with business development activities including proposals, presentations, and solution strategy discussions.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies, quality standards, and client requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the electric utility industry, utility consulting, or utility technology implementation.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience implementing and integrating ADMS systems (must be clearly demonstrated on the resume).
  • Required experience implementing AspenTech Digital Grid Management solutions, including the AspenTech Monarch Platform (must be clearly demonstrated on the resume).
  • Proven experience leading project workstreams, implementation teams, or major project deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of utility operations and grid modernization initiatives.
  • Experience gathering business, functional, technical, and integration requirements.
  • Experience leading testing, deployment, cutover planning, and operational readiness activities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid project delivery environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.

    • Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)
