Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate Account Takeover (ATO) cases involving suspicious account activity,
- Investigate Account Takeover (ATO) cases involving suspicious account activity, unauthorized access, compromised credentials, and potential fraud.
- Review customer accounts, transaction histories, payment activity, and behavioral patterns to identify fraudulent or suspicious activity.
- Conduct transaction and payment fraud investigations and determine appropriate risk actions.
- Validate payment and transaction information to determine whether activity is legitimate or potentially fraudulent.
- Make or escalate risk decisions involving holding, releasing, restricting, blocking, or protecting accounts and funds.
- Handle inbound customer calls related to fraud, suspicious transactions, account security, and payment concerns.
- Authenticate customers and gather information needed to investigate fraud cases.
- Communicate fraud findings and risk decisions clearly and professionally.
- De-escalate difficult customer situations while maintaining appropriate fraud and risk controls.
- Balance customer experience, fraud prevention, and financial risk mitigation.
- Document investigation findings, decisions, customer interactions, and supporting evidence accurately.
- Escalate complex or high-risk cases according to established procedures.
- Partner with Fraud, Risk, Payments, Operations, Compliance, and Customer Support teams to resolve issues.
- Identify emerging fraud patterns and recommend opportunities to improve fraud prevention and customer protection.
- Meet established quality, productivity, accuracy, and service-level expectations.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- 2+ years of relevant fraud, risk, payments, banking, fintech, or financial-services experience.
- Hands-on experience investigating Account Takeover (ATO).
- Experience investigating transactional fraud and/or payment fraud.
- Experience reviewing accounts and transactions to identify suspicious activity.
- Experience making, documenting, or escalating risk decisions.
- Experience with payments, merchant processing, banking, fintech, or financial-services risk.
- Customer-facing fraud experience, including inbound phone calls.
- Experience authenticating customers and handling sensitive or difficult fraud conversations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Ability to work independently while following established fraud/risk procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Experience protecting or restricting customer accounts.
- Experience placing/releasing holds on funds or transactions.
- Chargeback/payment dispute experience.
- Transaction monitoring.
- Account security.
- Fraud prevention and mitigation.
- Experience working in a high-volume operational environment.
- Recent fraud/risk experience rather than fraud experience several years ago.
