TMD Staffing is looking to hire a Forklift Operator for a steel company in the East Houston, TX Area!

WORK ENVIRONMENT

In-Person, Industrial/Steel Manufacturing Environment

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate a large-capacity forklift to safely move, load, unload, and stage steel cylinders and other heavy steel materials.
• Transport steel products throughout the facility, production areas, storage yards, and loading areas.
• Load and unload steel cylinders from trucks, trailers, racks, and designated storage areas.
• Inspect forklift equipment before each shift and report any mechanical or safety issues to supervisors.
• Follow designated travel paths and maintain safe operating speeds throughout the facility.
• Use proper lifting, rigging, securing, and material-handling procedures when required.
• Assist production and warehouse personnel with moving materials and preparing orders for shipment.
• Verify materials, quantities, and product identification before moving or loading steel.
• Maintain clear communication with coworkers, spotters, supervisors, and truck drivers while handling large or oversized loads.
• Perform general labor and material-handling duties as needed.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and proper forklift operating procedures.
• Perform routine housekeeping duties throughout the facility.
• Participate in training and safety meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience operating large-capacity forklifts required or strongly preferred.
• Experience moving steel, cylinders, heavy industrial materials, or oversized loads preferred.
• Valid forklift certification preferred.
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment in an industrial environment.
• Previous steel mill, warehouse, manufacturing, or material-handling experience preferred.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials as required.
• Ability to work around heavy machinery and large steel products.
• Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Willingness to perform general labor duties when not operating the forklift.

PAY RATE

$17/hour + DOE (Depending on Experience)

SCHEDULE

10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
