**Job Description** **Housing & Food Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Food Service Worker 2 to join their team.** **About this Opportunity** Reporting to Executive Chef/Manager, the Food Service Worker 2 works alongside and provides leadership to a team of full-time and student employees in a dynamic, high volume food service environment. The Food Service Worker 2 is responsible for providing customer service for guests, assembling and serving food items, preparing beverages, assisting cooks in preparation and production of menu items, operating a grill or fryer, cashiering and maintaining cleanliness. There are 9-month or 11.5-month cyclic positions available. These positions are located at various UW Dining venues. The Food Service Worker 2 position is 100% onsite and is not eligible for remote work. This requisition supports multiple opportunities and shifts, and that will be discussed during the interview process. Schedules may be changed with two weeks' notice. **Key Responsibilities** **Food Service Operations - 60%** + Participate in and lead employees in food preparation, beverage production, serving and/or dishwashing. + Perform basic preparation including, paring fruits and vegetables, reheating refrigerated or frozen soups, assembling sandwiches and salads, toasting bread, preparing hot and cold beverages and/or packaging grab and go items. + May act as a short order cook at a grill, fryer, or similar workspace. + Set up station, stock/restock, and rotate supplies according to established plans, par levels and food handling policies and procedures. + Take inventory counts using tally sheets from CBORD FSS system. **Cleaning, Food Safety and Sanitation - 20%** + Restock and rotate station according to established plans, par levels and food handling policies and procedures. + Continuously clean and maintain order of workstation and prep areas, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing. + Ensure that all unused food is properly handled, wrapped, dated, labeled and stored. **Leadership - 20%** + Assign student, hourly or Food Service Workers 1 to meet production and service needs. + May lead staff at an individual platform, station or café. This position performs essential services and may be required to work during any period of declared suspended operation. **Required Qualifications** To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. **Minimum Qualifications** Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Department. + Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment AND one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage. + Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. **Working Conditions** Working conditions within UW Dining are dynamic and fast-paced, with employees contributing across a range of environments-including large residential dining facilities, cafés, restaurants, and convenience or grocery-style markets-based on operational needs. Work assignments may shift to support business demands and ensure an exceptional customer experience across all locations.
