POSITION SUMMARY
The Middle/High Food Service Manager Assistantworks closely with the Director of Food Service and assists with food preparation, meal service, managing staff, ordering, inventory management, record keeping, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen.
This person is a key employee whoactively engages in NorthPointe Christian’s mission of “Equipping students to impact their world for Jesus Christ” through his/her interaction with students and staff.

RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES
- Model Biblical character and integrateBiblical principles and Scripture into daily interactions withstudents and staff.Minister to students through encouragement and a Christ-like attitude.
- Support the School’s Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
- Assist with the daily preparation and service of nutritious and cost-effective meals according to established menus, standardized recipes, and schedules.
- Learn the operation and proper use of commercial kitchen equipment.
- Assist with menu preparation and daily food production.
- Help receive, stock, organize, and rotate food and supply deliveries using proper inventory procedures.
- Assist with ordering food, supplies, and other kitchen necessities.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required office duties when requested, including the use of the Meal Magic software program.
- Follow and enforce all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, workstations, serving areas, and storage areas according to established procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, and safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with directing and supporting food service staff during meal preparation, service, and cleanup as assigned.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Active Christian in agreement and willing to sign the NorthPointe Christian School’s Foundational Statements.
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Basic knowledge of commercial kitchen operations, food preparation, and cooking techniques or a willingness to learn.
- ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification or the ability to obtain certification within a designated timeframe.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and use the Meal Magic meal management system.
- Some leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate records.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to pass required background checks and fingerprint screening.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Food Service Manager works in a school cafeteria and kitchen environment that involves moderate physical activity and regular exposure to food preparation equipment and cleaning materials. Basic safety precautions and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards are required at all times.
The employee will regularly:
- Work in and around commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, mixers, and dishwashing equipment, and sharp utensils such as knives.
- Handle and use cleaning products, sanitizers, and other chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
- Be exposed to varying temperatures, including hot cooking surfaces, steam, and refrigerated or freezer storage areas.
- Stand and walk for extended periods and perform tasks that may require bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling supplies and equipment.
- The employee will work in a school cafeteria and kitchen environment where noise levels vary throughout the day. During student meal service, the cafeteria can be loud due to conversations and normal student activity. The kitchen may also experience moderate to high noise levels from commercial food service equipment, meal preparation, and cleanup activities.
