Position Title: Food Service & Facilities Floater FTE: .5 FTE (20 hrs./week / 12 months/year) Department: Food Service Reports To: Executive Chef / Director of Food Service & Facilities FLSA: Non-Exempt
This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by, helping in various areas of Food Service; cooking, baking, food prep, cashiering, cleaning, training, severing, administrative. This position will also work in the facilities department helping with general housekeeping, groundskeeping, and maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Food Service - 75%
- Prepare and cook related menu items that may require short preparation time.
- Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
- Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients.
- Bake, grill, steam, and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other foods.
- Occasionally serve food.
- Prepares foods under direct supervision or instruction by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting, and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and safe work station (including utensils, equipment, and dishes) following all Marian University and regulatory rules and procedures.
- Completes cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules and dishwashing/pot washing as needed.
- Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
- Complies with all HACCP policies and procedures.
- Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Assists in training new employees, as requested by supervisor.
- Assist with inventory where needed
- Assist with Cashiering where needed
Facilities - 20%
- Assists Facilities staff with project work and related maintenance, grounds and/or custodial assignments as assigned in a professional and effective manner.
- Cleans offices, dorms, classrooms, schools, common areas, lavatories, halls, food service areas and any other areas that may require attention; sweeps, mops, scrubs, polishes floors and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space; cleans light fixtures, ceilings and vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows and window coverings.
- Performs seasonal grounds keeping duties including mowing, trimming, raking, edging, weeding, trash, debris and litter removal, and other duties relating to lawn, landscape and hardscape maintenance as assigned in an effective and efficient manner.
- Performs seasonal maintenance including painting, furniture and office relocations, event set-up and tear-down, freight and/or supply moving, minor repairs, chemical applications and related activities as assigned in an effective and efficient manner.
- May operate golf cars, Marian fleet, and assorted power equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
- Will be required to properly and safely use cleaning chemicals per manufacturer and Marian standards.
- Notifies supervisor concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
- Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
- Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
- Removes fallen or damaged leaves, branches, and twigs using mowers, tractors and other hand and power tools.
- Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
- Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned. - 5%
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High school diploma with at least 1-2 years' experience.
- Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.
- Ability to interact politely and resolve customer service issues.
- Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.
- Skills in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and decisions in an expeditious manner.
- Skilled at setting a good example for others.
- Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment

- Must have a valid driver's license and successful complete a motor vehicle background check to drive Marian golf carts and fleet.
Hourly Rate: $16.00
