This Financial Specialist, Senior position is a great opportunity for a professional who's looking to provide consumer protection and public safety for all Idahoans.

Example of Duties:

  • Develop and review financial statements and payroll reports using the State's LUMA enterprise reporting system.
  • Incumbents use their professional background to assist in the development of budgets and preparation of other financial documents.
  • Evaluate complex financial issues and offer expert guidance and solutions to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain accounting systems, plan, and review financial operations, and manage difficult or confidential financial matters.
  • Investigate and assess financial documents and other transactions to guarantee adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Utilize internal resources to resolve financial challenges and assist in drafting responses to inquiries from legislators and other external stakeholders.
  • Identify trends using research and analysis for use in reporting and for recommending changes to business practices.
  • This position will be required to perform all fiscal support functions such as but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, interagency payments, budget change requests, year-end closing packages and other fiscal or administrative duties as assigned.
  • Assist with Federal Grant analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

Good knowledge of:

  • Accounting principles and practices.

Experience:

  • Developing and preparing financial documents.
  • Using a personal computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data.
  • Analyzing financial activities and recommending management action.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience researching and analyzing financial documents to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and accounting principles.
  • Experience in preparation of financial statements.
  • Good knowledge of Luma software, including Cognos Enterprise Reporting.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Pro.
  • Resourceful, self-starter with the ability to network with others to gather information and prioritize shifting deadlines.
