Job Description

This is a part-time position located in the emergency room. This is an afternoon position with alternating start times. The alternating times are 2p-230a, and 6p-630a with 6p-630am being the primary start time. This position is a rotating weekend and holidays.

As a Financial Admin Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial services team by performing a variety of clerical duties with precision and care. Your work will directly impact patient care by ensuring accurate and confidential handling of patient information, insurance verification, and financial transactions. This role is essential for maintaining the smooth operation of our healthcare services.

What You Will Do

• Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to Federal and State laws regarding the dissemination of patient medical and billing information.
• Coordinate communications for the unit, handling telephone, mail, fax, and pager communications with accuracy and courtesy.
• Register and admit patients, accurately entering and maintaining patient demographic and financial information into hospital computer systems.
• Verify and assess coverage for all types of encounters, working with third-party payers including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies.
• Receive and record payments for hospital and medical services, maintain petty cash, and prepare daily cash reports and bank deposits.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must pass a data entry proficiency test for speed and accuracy.
• Proficiency in medical terminology, hospital computer systems, and general office equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, medical staff, and third-party payers.
• Good analytical and mathematics skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 12 months of previous experience with admitting, registration, hospital third-party coverage, insurance verification, billing, unit clerk, or medical records.
• Successful completion of Administrative Associate Core Role Training.
