Flatrock is seeking a strategic, hands-on, and collaborative Director of Finance & Operations to lead our Finance department while providing operational oversight and leadership support across our homes.

This is a dynamic leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of finance, people, compliance, operations, and organizational strategy. You’ll work closely with executive leadership, program directors, accounting partners, staff, counties, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure financial accuracy, operational excellence, and the continued success of the organization.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee and lead the Finance department, providing direction, mentorship, and accountability.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, budget reports, and variance analyses.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Review AR/AP aging reports, identify outstanding issues, and collaborate with accounting support staff to resolve them.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and ongoing financial planning.
  • Collaborate with the CPA firm to ensure accurate financial reporting, proper record retention, and long-term financial success.
  • Assist with annual audits and prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports for government agencies.
  • Initiate wire transfers for payroll and other expenses as requested.
  • Audit Finance department employee time to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct regular financial audits of each home and complete quarterly/monthly billing audits.
  • Coordinate with CMH billing departments to understand rate breakdowns, address authorization issues, and resolve monthly billing concerns.
  • Communicate unresolved financial and billing issues to the CEO, COO, and Program Directors.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential financial, billing, and organizational records.
  • Protect confidential information in accordance with organizational policies and HIPAA requirements.
  • Utilize organizational communication tools, including FIN, to ensure information is shared accurately and efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively with counties and management to maintain positive, open, and productive relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant, preferred
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership, staff, external partners, government agencies, and guardians.
