The Field Technician III will lead complex data center infrastructure, network integration, and field operations initiatives. This senior-level role focuses on infrastructure design, optimization, capacity planning, and technical strategy while providing hands-on support for critical systems and advanced network environments.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in data center infrastructure, fiber optics, network troubleshooting, and wireless architecture. In addition to resolving complex technical issues, the Field Technician III will lead site migrations and decommissions, conduct root cause analysis, develop operational standards, and coordinate technical teams across infrastructure projects.
This is a seven-month assignment with an opportunity for direct employment.

Responsibilities of the Field Technician III:
  • Lead data center infrastructure installations, site migrations, decommissions, expansions, and optimization initiatives.
  • Manage power distribution units (PDUs), high-density fiber architecture, equipment deployments, and remote-hands support.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware issues, including motherboard replacements, DIMM failures, and server management log analysis using tools such as iDRAC and iLO.
  • Diagnose Layer 1 and Layer 2 network issues involving VLAN tagging, Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), Spanning Tree, and physical connectivity.
  • Perform advanced fiber-optic inspection, cleaning, testing, and troubleshooting using scopes, light meters, and optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDRs).
  • Trace end-to-end physical connectivity from network jacks to switches, ports, and associated network equipment.
  • Design and optimize wireless networks for high-density environments, including data centers, warehouses, and corporate offices.
  • Conduct active wireless site surveys and heatmap analysis, identify coverage gaps, and optimize access point power, channel assignments, and signal quality.
  • Manage enterprise wireless security and authentication technologies, including WPA3-Enterprise, RADIUS, and ISE.
  • Configure and optimize Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs), DCIM platforms, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) capacity requirements.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents and outages, implementing corrective actions to improve infrastructure reliability.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and environmental health and safety (EHS) standards.
  • Coordinate technical assignments, delegate tasks, monitor progress, and communicate project status during kickoff meetings, incident reviews, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Support advanced infrastructure technologies, including liquid-cooled AI/ML computing clusters.
  • Apply established L1 and L2 operational practices while providing technical guidance and leadership to field teams.
Required Experience/Skills for the Field Technician III:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data center infrastructure, network integration, field engineering, or telecommunications environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, high-density fiber architecture, hardware deployment, and site expansion activities.
  • Expertise with LC, SC, MPO, and MTP fiber connectors and associated cabling standards.
  • Strong hands-on experience with fiber cleaning, inspection, testing, light-level analysis, polarity, bend radius, and troubleshooting signal loss.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose Layer 1 and Layer 2 network issues, including VLANs, LACP, and Spanning Tree.
  • Experience with server hardware repairs, motherboard swaps, DIMM troubleshooting, and remote management technologies such as iDRAC and iLO.
  • Strong understanding of wireless RF principles, including SNR, RSSI, interference, access point placement, and high-density wireless design.
  • Experience with enterprise wireless security, WPA3-Enterprise, RADIUS/ISE, WLC configuration, and active site surveys.
  • Proficiency with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms and PoE capacity planning.
  • Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis, resolve major incidents, and implement lasting corrective actions.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, communication, and team coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, delegate tasks, track progress, and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard operating procedures, safety practices, and infrastructure operational standards.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Field Technician III:
  • Experience supporting liquid-cooled AI/ML clusters or other advanced high-performance computing environments.
  • Background in large-scale data center migrations, decommissions, and infrastructure expansions.
  • Experience managing vendor service-level agreements (SLAs) and coordinating infrastructure projects with significant budgets.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-scale wireless deployments in warehouses, corporate offices, and other high-density environments.
  • Experience creating technical standards, operational playbooks, and safety procedures for field engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership in incident management, technical project coordination, and cross-functional collaboration.
Education Requirements:
  • Relevant technical education, certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience in data center infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, or systems engineering.
  • Industry certifications in networking, fiber optics, data center operations, or wireless technologies are preferred.
Benefits:
  • Atrium Care Package available, upon eligibility (including healthcare plans, discount programs, and paid time off).
