Field Service Technician

Job Title: Field Service Technician
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Hourly Consultant
Hours: 8 am to 5 pm, M-F
Pay: $26.44/hr

This role does require driving your own personal vehicle to different locations across the city to fix devices. Must have a valid Driver's license and no more than one moving violation in the past three years. Mileage is reimbursed.

Essential Functions:

• Provide onsite technical support and outstanding customer service for assigned equipment and clients.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain multifunction devices (MFDs), copiers, printers, and related equipment.

• Respond to service calls and resolve issues in accordance with customer SLA requirements.

• Use electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, multimeters, and electrical schematics to diagnose equipment issues.

• Maintain equipment, production, and supply inventories for assigned sites.

• Communicate equipment status, availability, and service updates to onsite customers.

• Provide basic customer training on equipment functionality as needed.

• Escalate issues to additional technical resources when required.

• Travel throughout the Richmond area to support customer sites and service calls.

• Follow all safety procedures when working with electrical and mechanical components.

Skills:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• Knowledge of MFDs, copiers, printers, and related office equipment.

• Electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to use a multimeter and read electrical schematics.

• Strong multitasking, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.

• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.

• Valid driver's license, appropriate insurance coverage, and clean driving history.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, and driving.

Experience:

• Experience repairing or servicing MFDs, copiers, printers, or similar electro-mechanical equipment preferred.

• Relevant experience may include HVAC, cable/internet technician, electrician, automotive mechanic, equipment repair, military, or other technical service roles.

• Ability to independently complete service calls and meet customer service expectations.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical, electrical, mechanical, or vocational training is a plus.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
