Salary: $130,000–$150,000 annually

Position Summary

Reliance One is seeking a senior, customer-facing Field Application Engineer for one of our top tier clients to help customers select and integrate electronic components into new product designs.

The company manufactures sensors, circuit-protection devices, resistors, inductors, transformers, and other components used in automotive, industrial, consumer, telecommunications, medical, aerospace, and defense applications.

This role combines electrical engineering, technical consulting, problem-solving, and sales engineering. The Field Application Engineer will work directly with customer engineering teams to understand their applications, recommend appropriate components, resolve technical issues, and secure new design-in opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet with customer engineering teams throughout the Northeast
• Evaluate voltage, current, performance, packaging, cost, and regulatory requirements
• Recommend electronic components for board-, circuit-, and system-level applications
• Review specifications, schematics, drawings, test results, and application diagrams
• Help customers troubleshoot component-selection, integration, and quality concerns
• Support design-in opportunities from initial evaluation through production approval
• Coordinate samples, custom components, testing, drawings, and technical reports
• Partner with sales, distributors, manufacturers’ representatives, Product Management, and Engineering
• Train customers, sales representatives, and distributors on products and applications
• Deliver presentations at customer meetings, trade shows, and technical conferences
• Track customer visits and design-in opportunities in the CRM
• Report competitive activity, regulatory developments, market changes, and customer needs
• Provide customer feedback and new-product ideas to Product Management and Engineering

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Approximately five to 10 years of field applications engineering, applications engineering, component sales engineering, or technical sales experience
• Experience supporting electronic components at the board, circuit, or system level
• Ability to interpret electrical specifications, schematics, technical drawings, and application diagrams
• Direct experience supporting customer engineering teams
• Experience recommending or qualifying components for new product designs
• Strong technical presentation, consulting, and customer communication skills
• Ability to identify and prioritize commercially valuable technical opportunities
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%
• Residence in or reasonable access to the Boston and Northeast market
• Ability to travel throughout Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania

The ideal candidate is a technically strong electrical engineer who can translate complex customer requirements into practical component solutions. This individual will be comfortable serving as a trusted technical advisor, collaborating across sales and engineering teams, and helping customers move new product designs from component evaluation through production approval.
