    Description

    Farm Operations Management

    • Oversee the daily operations of the farm, including planting, harvesting, irrigation, composting, pest management, and soil health practices.
    • Develop and implement sustainable farming practices aligned with organic and regenerative agriculture principles.
    • Coordinate the use and maintenance of farm tools, equipment, and infrastructure; ensuring that all safety standards are met.

    Program Coordination & Support

    • Collaborate with the education team to support youth development, nutrition, and farm-based learning programs.
    • Assist in planning and delivering hands-on programming for K-12 students, interns, volunteers, and community groups.
    • Integrate farm tasks and seasonal cycles into educational curricula and experiential learning models.

    Volunteers and Intern Monitoring

    • Invite community members to volunteer at the farm.
    • Show volunteers how to be safe on the farm using farm tools and equipment.
    • Monitor volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and interns working on the farm.
    • Foster a positive and educational farm environment for all participants.
    • Maintain communication, schedules, and documentation for work crews.

    Environmental Stewardship & Innovation

    • Promote environmental sustainability and conservation through farm practices and educational messaging.
    • Contribute to new initiatives and special projects that advance the farm's mission and impact.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

    • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
    • Knowledge of urban agriculture and youth development.
    • Knowledge of soil science, integrated pest management, and organic vegetable growing practices.
    • Skill in speaking and communicating information to large groups.
