$17.20 per hour - commensurate with experience

12 month position -8.0 hours per day

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of 1 year landscaping or yard work experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally.

  • Knowledge of landscape gardening tools and equipment.

  • Knowledge of gardening chemicals.

  • Ability to operate heavy equipment associated with grounds work.

  • Ability to layout, install, and make repairs to irrigation systems.

  • Knowledge of herbicide and fertilizer application.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members.

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.

  • Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response.

  • Skills in time management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains sprinkler systems and irrigates all agriculture fields.

  • Repairs, maintains and operates all ground equipment and machines.

  • Performs policing of grounds and assists in general landscaping of agriculture field areas.

  • Removes all trash and litter to proper areas.

  • Assists with installation and repairs of all fences on agriculture fields.

  • Repairs, and maintains all animal pens.

  • Mows and trims all agriculture areas, prunes trees and plants.

  • Repairs and maintains greenhouses.

  • Assists teacher with student instruction on field maintenance.
