Facilities Reliability Technician — Industrial Building Systems

Picture this: You arrive Monday morning for a day-shift role that runs Monday–Friday. You scan the facility, listen for the hum of motors and fans, and get hands-on with the systems that keep operations running. Preventive maintenance is your rhythm, troubleshooting is your sport, and safety is the constant backdrop. Pay starts at $30.28/hr and is dependent on experience.

What a typical day looks like

• Walk the site for visual and physical inspections of building systems and supporting equipment.
• Execute preventive maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Care for utilities infrastructure: industrial air compressors and distribution, process water chillers, cooling towers, fire suppression and alarm systems, pumps, valves, motors, and fans.
• Lubricate motors and bearings; perform general mechanical maintenance.
• Handle light construction needs: painting, general construction, and drywall repairs.
• Manage parts and supplies to keep a ready inventory of repair materials.
• Coordinate and oversee outside service providers and contractors (e.g., plumbers, electricians).
• Partner with EH&S and other departments on facility projects.
• Respond quickly to urgent issues and follow LOTO and other safety protocols; escalate to the right contacts as needed.
• Pitch in for occasional off-hours or overtime to finish repairs or projects.

Tools and equipment you’ll use

• Forklift, scissor lift, and electric hand truck (plus a bonus if you can diagnose and perform routine maintenance on electric hand trucks).
• A wide range of hand and power tools; experience with band saws, drill presses, wire-feed welders, belt sanders, and end mills is a plus.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of directly related facilities maintenance experience, or a comparable mix of education and experience.
• Fluency in English with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Top-notch organization, time management, and the ability to prioritize tasks while following procedures and regulations.
• Project planning skills, including scheduling and cost considerations.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, adapt quickly, and maintain a positive, urgent, professional approach.
• Physically able to lift 50 lbs unassisted.

Schedule & location

Day shift, Monday–Friday, on the Westside of Jacksonville. Occasional overtime as needed.

Compensation

$30.28 per hour, depending on experience.
