Are you passionate about optimizing building operations and ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-performing environment? At ISG, we’re seeking a dynamic Facilities Assessment Specialist to join our team and play a pivotal role in enhancing the functionality and safety of the facilities we evaluate and design. 

In this role, you will work directly with Thad Dahling, Facility Management and Planning Strategist, and Tiara Marcus, Project Management Practice Group Leader.  You will also collaborate with a dedicated team of project managers, architects, engineers, technical writers and business development specialists that support the overall firm. 

The Facilities Assessment Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations of building systems and infrastructure including, but limited to site conditions, building envelope, interior finishes, accessibility items, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural, identifying maintenance and improvement needs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role involves performing detailed assessments, developing reports, and recommending solutions to enhance facility operations and efficiency.

Essential Duties


  • Travel to and conduct and lead facility condition assessments, from the initial planning stages, through the final deliverable to client
  • Create and manage project schedules based on client needs
  • Work directly with clients to understand goals and current building or system challenges and incorporate these into overall project scope
  • Work in partnership with internal ISG team members and departments to develop a high-quality product including customized databases, dashboards, or executive summary reports
  • Provide cost estimating on building prioritized repair, replacement, and maintenance items. 
  • Assist in creating the final deliverable to client and review for quality assurance
  • Provide sufficient information as part of the facility condition assessment, to ensure success during the subsequent design phases, or in the master planning process

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred but not required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, including five (5)+ years of hands‑on experience evaluating structural, exterior, mechanical, and electrical building systems
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Facility Manager (CFM)) are a plus, however, relatable industry experience may also be considered
  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities management, maintenance, or a related field
  • Ability to empathetically connect with clients and internal team members
  • Ability to lead client communication and maintain client relationships for multiple projects
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Power BI is beneficial, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, participate with a variety of team members on different projects at varying levels of development
  • Ability to travel to various locations that ISG serves
