General Definition of Work
The executive director of planning and logistics under minimal supervision, performs senior-level work with extensive decision-making discretion in the design, implementation, delivery, and management of innovative solutions throughout the district. This position provides broad administrative experience in the day-to-day operations of the division. Employee performs advanced and supervisory work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures related to student services, academics, student planning and placement, and school performance under the direction of the Deputy Superintendent.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Lead, manage and supervise/evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district
- Update policies and regulations to align with current initiatives
- Monitor timelines and progress towards milestones and deadlines
- Develop and execute an operational plan, including goals and objectives with measurable outcomes, to optimize application development and integration, vendor relationships, special programs, and project management to support the strategic plan
- Establish and implement best practices, protocols, policies, and procedures for conducting needs assessments, identifying, and selecting projects and solutions, engaging, and communicating with departments/schools and vendors, implementation and roll-out, and monitoring and evaluation
- Assess and manage the process of designing, developing, and improving new and existing applications and integration tools
- Initiate and direct root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to clearly identify the scope and priority for projects as well as alignment to the district's strategic plan and/or solution to operational/business process issues
- Manage the coordination of special programs including providing information or specifications required for funding, compliance and/or programming requirements
- Manage contract process to ensure timely execution and compliance with all procurement policies and procedures
- Manage vendor relationships, including data sharing agreements
- Monitor budget and participate in the budgeting process
- Prepare presentations, and deliver on behalf of the Deputy Superintendent as requested
- Cultivate partnerships with neighboring counties to collaborate on critical strategies
- Develop, coordinate, and implement support to schools and district teams
- Cross-functional partnering and collaborating across district departments and management teams to ensure alignment, coordination, and planning for shared work streams and initiatives
- Build and promote culture across the district to ensure staff members have a clear understanding of expectations related to the district's strategic priorities, their contributions and daily work
- Facilitate staff meetings and attend other related meetings as needed/required
- Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly
- Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations

- Comprehensive knowledge of school board and administrator objectives, procedures, and organization
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local policies/regulations regarding curriculum planning and organizational development
- Thorough knowledge of county and school board policies, procedures, and standards

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in education or related area required
- Master's degree in School Administration or related area preferred
- NC Certification (Principal or Superintendent) preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience as building or district administrator preferred
- Equivalent combination of experience and education
Special Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Work requires the occasional exertion of up to ten pounds of force
- Work regularly requires the exchange of accurate and detailed information through oral and written communication
- Constantly operates a computer and other office business equipment
- Ability to remain in stationary position for required meetings/work
