Our client is seeking an Executive Director of Facilities Operations to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a large, multi‑site ambulatory care network. This executive‑level role is responsible for building, standardizing, and advancing a comprehensive facilities management program that supports 300+ outpatient and ambulatory locations across a major healthcare system.


The Executive Director will lead facilities operations, engineering services, maintenance programs, vendor and asset management, regulatory compliance, and workforce engagement across a complex healthcare portfolio. This leader will collaborate closely with senior executives, clinical stakeholders, and operational teams to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and patient‑centered facility environments.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Facilities Leadership

  • Align facilities operations with organizational goals, patient care objectives, and long‑term system strategy.
  • Develop and lead a scalable, high‑performing facilities management program for a large ambulatory network.
  • Partner with executive leadership and clinical stakeholders to support growth, access, and operational excellence.

Operational Excellence & Standardization

  • Ensure reliable service delivery, efficient workflows, and strong performance metrics across all facilities.
  • Drive consistency, standardization, and continuous improvement across a distributed healthcare portfolio.
  • Oversee maintenance operations, engineering services, asset management, and vendor performance across all sites.

Regulatory, Accreditation & Life Safety Compliance

  • Lead readiness efforts for inspections, audits, and accreditation surveys.
  • Maintain safe, compliant, and patient‑ready environments across all locations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare regulatory, accreditation, life safety, and environmental standards.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Oversee capital planning, asset lifecycle management, and contracted services.
  • Optimize cost efficiency while maintaining high service quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage large operating budgets, forecasting, resource planning, and financial performance.

Team Leadership & Workforce Engagement

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Provide coaching, development, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Lead large, multi‑site teams and multi‑level management structures across hundreds of locations.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Proven ability to manage large FTE populations across multiple locations.
  • 7+ years of management experience, including leadership of multi‑level teams.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing large, multi‑site healthcare facilities portfolios.
  • Bachelor's degree required; equivalent experience may be considered for highly qualified candidates.
  • Experience partnering with C‑suite executives, healthcare administrators, physicians, and operational leaders to drive strategic initiatives.
  • 7+ years of facilities management, engineering operations, or business/operations services experience across both hard and soft services.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory environments and multi‑site compliance programs.
  • Background leading large‑scale standardization or transformation initiatives across distributed healthcare facilities.
  • Experience supporting facilities operations within health systems, ambulatory networks, or academic medical environments.
