Executive Director – Healthcare Facilities Management

We are seeking a seasoned Executive Director of Facilities Operations to lead enterprise facilities management across a large, multi-site healthcare system supporting 300+ ambulatory and outpatient care locations throughout Northeast Ohio.

This senior leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and service delivery consistency across a complex healthcare facilities portfolio. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in healthcare facilities management, multi-site operations, and executive stakeholder leadership within large health systems or academic medical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for facilities operations across a large ambulatory healthcare network
• Develop and scale a standardized, high-performing facilities management program across 300+ outpatient sites
• Lead maintenance, engineering, asset management, vendor management, and contracted services (hard & soft services)
• Ensure full compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, OSHA, and life-safety regulations
• Drive operational consistency, cost optimization, and continuous improvement across all facilities operations
• Manage capital planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance for large-scale facilities portfolios
• Partner with C-suite executives, physicians, and operational leaders to align facilities strategy with clinical and organizational goals
• Oversee multi-site teams, multiple management layers, and significant FTE populations
• Lead construction coordination and major facilities improvement projects as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years of management experience in facilities, engineering, or operations leadership
• Minimum 7+ years of facilities/engineering experience across hard and soft services
• Proven leadership of large, multi-site healthcare facilities portfolios (100+ locations strongly preferred)
• Experience in health systems, ambulatory networks, or academic medical centers (REQUIRED preference)
• Strong background managing large teams and multi-layered organizational structures (FTE oversight required)
• Demonstrated success in budget ownership, forecasting, capital planning, and performance management
• Experience partnering with executive leadership (C-suite, clinical leadership, hospital administration)
• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Experience

• Leadership within large health systems or academic medical environments
• Experience managing enterprise ambulatory facilities programs or regional multi-site portfolios
• Background overseeing both hard services (engineering, maintenance, construction) and soft services (security, grounds, logistics, support services)
• Experience driving standardization, operational transformation, or large-scale facilities integration
