We are seeking a Senior Estimator / Estimating Manager to join a growing heavy highway and heavy civil construction firm. This role is ideal for a project manager, project engineer, or experienced estimator looking to lead a cohesive estimating team and contribute to winning high-value projects.
Review and interpret project specifications and drawings.
Produce accurate take-offs and pricing for heavy highway and civil construction projects ranging from $10M to $100M.
Prepare and manage minority participation matrices and analyze self-perform versus subcontracted work.
Solicit quotations from subcontractors and vendors.
Assist in creating construction schedules and equipment utilization plans.
Maintain labor, equipment, and vendor databases for estimating purposes.
Lead small estimating teams and mentor junior estimators.
Participate in joint venture estimates and coordinate quantity and cost comparisons.
Identify project risks and opportunities to improve competitiveness.
Communicate effectively with internal staff, subcontractors, vendors, and clients while maintaining ethical standards.
Required:
4-year Engineering Degree or equivalent.
Estimating experience in heavy highway or heavy civil projects.
Technical training or related construction experience.
Strong math, analytical, and computer skills.
Preferred:
10+ years of experience in heavy highway or heavy civil construction.
Experience with Design-Build or P3 projects.
Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, SmartBid, Teams, SharePoint, CADD, Viewpoint Vista, and P6.
Experience estimating all types of projects/contracts.
Experience supervising or mentoring other estimators.
