Job Description:
The Epic Web & Service Server Engineer is responsible for supporting, developing, maintaining, and optimizing the technical infrastructure that enables Epic applications and services. This role applies technical expertise across servers, networks, system architecture, data architecture, capacity planning, system performance, configuration management, and Epic application deployment platforms.
The engineer will install, configure, test, maintain, upgrade, and deploy Epic technologies across production and non-production environments. The role also contributes to the development and implementation of Epic architecture, hardware, software, and infrastructure standards.
This position provides technical consulting and support to Epic application development teams, Information Services teams, and customers, ensuring solutions align with organizational, vendor, and Epic technology standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative
- Complete time management, status reports, task updates, and other administrative responsibilities as required by management.
- Maintain accurate records of assigned work, project activities, and technical tasks.
Policies & Procedures
- Adhere to Information Services processes, standards, and best practices.
- Follow applicable healthcare system policies, procedures, security requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain awareness of HIPAA and other regulations applicable to hospitals and healthcare organizations.
Project Management
- Work effectively as part of a larger technical team while independently managing assigned responsibilities.
- Prioritize tasks and deliverables to meet project timelines and organizational priorities.
- Communicate project status, risks, issues, and technical requirements effectively.
- Contribute to planning activities involving system upgrades, maintenance, capacity, performance, and infrastructure improvements.
Customer Service & Collaboration
- Develop an understanding of customer requirements and how they impact technical solutions and project direction.
- Build productive relationships with internal customers by listening, clarifying requirements, and responding effectively.
- Respond to user and system issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate effectively with Information Services, infrastructure, application, network, security, and other technical teams.
- Share technical knowledge, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices with team members.
- Provide technical consultation regarding Epic technologies, infrastructure, and standards.
Epic Infrastructure Development & Support
- Install, manage, configure, maintain, and support Epic application deployment platforms serving:
- Production environments
- Reporting environments
- Disaster recovery environments
- Training environments
- Development and other non-production environments
- Install and maintain administrative, monitoring, and management tools necessary to support high levels of system availability, reliability, and performance.
- Apply Epic and platform upgrades, patches, updates, and configuration changes to production and non-production Web Server components.
- Assist with the configuration, integration, and troubleshooting of third-party software, applications, and peripherals.
- Follow Epic and vendor best practices for hardware, operating system, application, and infrastructure configuration.
- Monitor system performance and availability and assist with identifying and resolving infrastructure issues.
- Support capacity planning, performance management, and infrastructure optimization.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, configuration details, procedures, and knowledge-base content.
- Maintain accurate and current system information within centralized documentation and knowledge-management systems.
- Collaborate with internal technical teams and Epic to provide proactive system support and issue resolution.
- Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and related technical activities.
- Evaluate and support emerging technologies and infrastructure improvements applicable to the Epic environment.
- Develop, maintain, and test processes for resolving outstanding technical issues and supporting ongoing Epic application maintenance.
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation to improve system administration, monitoring, and operational efficiency.

Skills & Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: - Current Epic ECSA certification — HARD REQUIREMENT.
- Minimum of 3 years of direct Epic ECSA experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive Information Technology experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Web Services
- Server Administration
- Systems Engineering
- Network Administration
- Experience working successfully in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
- Strong understanding of operating system concepts, including:
- User and group ownership
- File and directory permissions
- File system configuration
- Volume group configuration
- System administration fundamentals
- Working knowledge of PowerShell.
- Ability to create, understand, document, and follow technical processes to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance activities.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and take appropriate action when troubleshooting or resolving technical issues.
- Highly self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Required Education: - High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education:- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
