Assistant Project Manager - Environmental Consulting (OER/BCP Remediation)

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for environmental remediation, site investigation, and brownfield redevelopment projects throughout New York City, assisting with project execution from planning through completion. This role combines project coordination, regulatory compliance, technical documentation, and field oversight, with a focus on projects operating under NYCOER, NYSDEC Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP), and other local and state regulatory frameworks.

This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in environmental cleanup and redevelopment initiatives across NYC while developing project management experience and serving as a critical liaison between field operations, clients, and regulatory stakeholders.

  • Will be responsible for preparing and technical report writing such as; remedial action and closure plans, Phase I, Phase II, site assessment report

being in the field when needed on various OER and Brownfield projects throughout the 5 boroughs working on primarily private publics

  • Prepare and review technical reports, including Remedial Action Work Plans (RAWP), Site Management Plans (SMP), Investigation Work Plans, and associated regulatory submittals.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, including NYSDEC and NYC OER.
  • Manage project financials: budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and cost tracking.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients
  • Oversee subcontractors, field staff, and sampling programs.
  • Ensure project compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Support proposal writing, scope development, and project planning efforts.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or closely related discipline
  • 4+ year experience working in the field doing construction oversight, community air monitoring (CAMP), soil sampling, groundwater sampling, etc.
  • Experience supporting Brownfield Clean Up Program projects and New York State Clean Up Act initiatives
  • Responsible for preparing and technical report writing such as; remedial action and closure plans, Phase I, Phase II, site assessment reports
  • Experience with report writing, financial budgeting and client management

Work Environment

Split between office and field work. Hours 9-5pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $48.00/hr.
