Minimum Qualifications
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial transaction processing.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial and donor information.
Preferred Qualifications
• Internship or work experience in accounting, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or financial operations.
• Experience with cash receipts, reconciliations, or general ledger accounting.
• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles and donor-restricted funds.
• Experience using Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT or similar accounting system.
• Process contributions, deposits, and other revenue transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Prepare account reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with accounts receivable and other routine accounting functions.
• Support financial reporting and audit preparation.
• Collaborate with Foundation staff to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
The University at Albany Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization supporting the University through private gifts and grants, seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Accountant to join its Finance team. This position will focus on accounts receivable and cash receipts, but will also assist with day-to-day accounting operations, reconciliations, financial recordkeeping, and other general accounting functions. The ideal candidate is eager to build a career in nonprofit accounting while contributing to the Foundation's mission of supporting the University through sound financial stewardship.
