Description

The Engineering Technician will provide hands-on technical support within a high-volume roll forming and value-added manufacturing environment. This individual will serve as a key resource for troubleshooting production equipment, improving manufacturing processes, supporting new product launches, and increasing equipment reliability.

 

Working closely with Process Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Quality, Tooling, and Operations, the Engineering Technician will diagnose complex equipment issues, minimize production downtime, and help implement permanent corrective actions. The ideal candidate will have a strong industrial maintenance or engineering technician background with practical experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and mechanical components.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot production equipment involving PLC controls, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and mechanical components.
  • Partner with maintenance personnel to diagnose and resolve complex equipment failures.
  • Support production teams in reducing downtime and improving overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Analyze recurring equipment and process issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and help implement permanent solutions.
  • Work with Process Engineering to develop, improve, and standardize manufacturing processes.
  • Assist with establishing process parameters and operating standards for roll forming and value-added manufacturing operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, setup sheets, process documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Assist with process validation and capability studies.
  • Support the onboarding and launch of new products into production.
  • Participate in tooling trials, process development, production startups, and manufacturing-readiness evaluations. 
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, automation initiatives, and capital improvement projects.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery and production equipment.
  • Maintain technical records, drawings, schematics, and process documentation.
  • Identify equipment-related quality concerns and process variation.
  • Participate in corrective and preventive actions related to internal and customer quality issues.
  • Promote a safe work environment and follow all company safety policies.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, engineering technology, or a similar industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting automated production equipment and industrial controls.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience identifying equipment failures, performing root cause analysis, and supporting corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work hands-on with machinery and equipment in a production-floor environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Process Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Quality, Tooling, and Operations.
  • Ability to safely stand, walk, bend, access production equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Willingness to flex working hours and work overtime when necessary to support production operations.
