Reason for the Opening: There is an urgent need to hire a lab technician who will be onsite in the SNS labs, San Jose. With a global team and intensive lab work happening across analog, digital, FW and FAE teams all logging in remotely and working on setups in the central SJC lab, there is a need for such a person to maintain, enhance the setups and unblock the engineers on the many issues faced daily.

Job Description:
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Engineering Technician to support engineering lab operations, hardware bring-up activities, test infrastructure, and equipment maintenance. This role will work closely with local and global engineering teams to ensure laboratory systems, development platforms, and test equipment are operational, organized, and properly maintained. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, basic electronics knowledge, experience with hardware debugging, and the ability to manage lab inventory and infrastructure efficiently.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
1. Troubleshoot and resolve lab network, connectivity, and firewall issues in collaboration with local and remote IT teams.
2. Procure lab OpEx supplies and equipment, coordinate with vendors, place orders, and manage incoming deliveries.
3. Maintain inventory of lab assets and consumables, including cables, connectors, dongles, switches, and NetBooters; troubleshoot and replace faulty equipment as needed.
4. Bring up new hardware platforms by connecting development boards, GPUs, cameras, and debug interfaces (JTAG/I2C), and perform initial diagnostics and debugging.
5. Execute basic platform bring-up commands to verify system functionality prior to handoff to engineering teams.
6. Perform soldering, connector installation/removal, and board rework activities to support engineering development and debugging.
7. Support global engineering teams with lab setup, remote debugging enablement, and issue resolution.
8. Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient laboratory environment, ensuring equipment and tools are properly stored and tracked.
9. Calibrate and maintain test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other electronic measurement instruments.
10. Document lab configurations, inventory status, equipment issues, and corrective actions to support smooth lab operations.

Required Technical Skills: (listed in order of importance)
1. 5+ years of experience in an engineering laboratory, hardware development, or test environment.
2. Experience troubleshooting hardware, network, and laboratory infrastructure issues.
3. Familiarity with electronic test and measurement equipment.
4. Experience with hardware bring-up, board debugging, and development platforms.
5. Basic soldering, connector installation, and board rework skills.
6. Knowledge of JTAG, I2C and related debugging interfaces.
7. Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
8. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Bonus/Preferred Skills:
1. Python coding skills
2. Debugging of HW setups by running scripts, diagnostic tools, narrowing down problems

Soft Skills:
Soft skills are vital to this job as the candidate will have to interact with various teams spread across the globe who remotely login to this lab for their work.

Education/Certifications:
Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or a related field.

Level 1: 0-4 years' experience
