Engineering Design Manager - ElectricalLeadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and develop a team of Electrical Designers, Engineers, and Virtual Design professionals.Oversee workload planning, staffing, utilization, performance management, and professional development across the team.Manage onboarding, training, and career progression initiatives.Establish and continually improve engineering standards, best practices, and design procedures.Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Project & Technical OversightLead multiple projects during preconstruction and design phases, ensuring schedules, budgets, and deliverables are met.Provide technical leadership for electrical system design and constructability reviews.Perform and review electrical calculations, including:Load calculationsVoltage drop calculationsShort-circuit studiesLighting calculationsEnsure designs comply with NEC, IBC, IECC, life safety codes, and internal standards.Guide the development of constructible, installation-ready drawings and coordination models.Design, Coordination & BIM LeadershipOversee BIM coordination efforts with architects, engineers, consultants, and trade partners.Drive consistent use of Virtual Design and BIM platforms across projects.Ensure adherence to BIM execution plans and digital construction standards.Direct the development and review of coordination and installation documents for:Temporary PowerPower Distribution SystemsUnderground and Site Electrical SystemsLighting and Low Voltage SystemsCommon Areas and Detailed Unit WiringChampion value engineering and cost-saving opportunities throughout the design process.Support continuous improvement of Revit, BIM, and VDC workflows.Collaboration & Client EngagementServe as a key engineering representative for internal operations teams and external clients.Collaborate closely with project managers, field leadership, superintendents, consultants, and customers to align design intent with execution strategy.Participate in project meetings and lead electrical design discussions.Provide technical support and guidance throughout all stages of project delivery.Build strong working relationships across engineering, preconstruction, operations, and field teams.Business, Quality & PerformanceReview contracts, project scopes, specifications, and jurisdictional requirements to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.Support bid-build evaluations, plans and specifications reviews, and value engineering recommendations.Ensure regional financial, production, and quality performance goals are achieved.Drive the on-time delivery of high-quality design and coordination packages.Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project execution, productivity, and design quality.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
