Some travel may be required in this role; however, this would occur on an infrequent basis. In-office attendance is required at least two (2) days per week, and could occur on a more frequent basis, as needed. Additionally, the position is housed in Davidson County and in-office attendance is expected to occur in Nashville, TN. Face-to-face meetings with staff and leadership is a requirement of this position.

Qualifications
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor''s degree and experience equivalent to substantial (five or more years of) increasingly responsible human resources work including at least two years of employee relations work.
Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate degree in human resources administration or other related acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years.
OR
Four years of human resources experience with the State of Tennessee.
OR
Graduation from a school of law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.

Position Description:
The Employee Relations Manager reports to the Director of Employee Relations. This position is responsible for assuming a leadership role, and maintaining expertise in conflict management, resolving workplace issues, and finding solutions that will contribute to a positive work environment. This individual is expected to create and maintain positive working relationships with employees, managers/supervisors, and leadership. It is also an expectation that the incumbent acts as a resource and provide support for staff at all levels of the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, by providing non-biased advice and expertise to work through problematic issues in the workplace. This position may be asked to assist with investigative efforts related to protected issues concerning employees.
