Definition
Under direction, is responsible for serving as a subject matter specialist for the City's employee benefits programs; performs related duties as required.
This is a temporary position and will be limited to 480 hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability programs.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations including COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, Section 125, and ERISA.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office and Excel.
Advanced proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
Ability to explain complex benefit concepts to employees and stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Examples of Work
Monitor the Employee Benefits and Wellness inbox and route inquiries to appropriate analyst for resolution; transcribe voice messages and return phone calls, as needed; monitor life events to ensure enrollments are submitted correctly.
Retrieve unemployment claim notifications from portal and forward notifications to appropriate department; monitor responses from departments and update information in portal, as needed.
Conduct dependent verification reporting and track verification documents; assist with short term disability reporting validation.
Assist with system testing for vendor implementation, plan design changes, and open enrollment; may assist with special projects; may perform other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelors degree AND two (2) years of experience in the administration of employee benefits, insurance risk management programs, worker's compensation, claims processing and dispute resolution, or contract interpretation and compliance.
OR
Possession of an associate's degree and four (4) years of experience in the administration of employee benefits, insurance risk management programs, worker's compensation, claims processing and dispute resolution, or contract interpretation and compliance.
