Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician — Food Processing

Step into a day on our maintenance team

It’s early in Denver and you’re choosing the shift that fits your life—4 AM, 7 AM, or 8 AM. You grab your checklist, power up the maintenance console that monitors utilities, and take a quick lap through the plant. A belt needs tensioning, a pneumatic valve needs calibration, and a walk-in’s control circuit is calling for attention. Before lunch, you’ve swapped a filter, greased bearings and seals, repaired a latch, and updated your preventive maintenance logs. An urgent call comes in—production needs you at a line where a motor starter tripped. You isolate, troubleshoot, replace a faulty switch, and bring the system back safely. By the end of the shift, you’ve helped keep our facility safe, efficient, and compliant with USDA requirements.

Shifts Available: early morning (4 AM), morning (7 AM), late morning (8 AM)

Pay Rate: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour depending on experience

What you’ll take on

• Perform both minor and major repairs on buildings and equipment; major work may be under guidance of a skilled maintenance technician.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on mechanical systems: inspect belts, check fluids, replace filters, grease bearings and seals, and repair or replace worn components.
• Calibrate and repair pneumatic systems.
• Repair windows, doors, door locks, and closets; install window blinds.
• Complete and maintain daily/weekly/monthly PM checklists and records.
• Operate a computer interface to control and monitor mechanical and utility systems.
• Install electrical wiring and equipment, including new services and remodel work; replace or repair wiring as required.
• Repair electrical equipment and control circuits; replace faulty switches; service refrigeration equipment.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed.
• Support building renovations and remodels: plaster/drywall repair and painting.
• Safely operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and boom lifts while conducting repairs.
• Perform facility repairs that protect product quality in line with company guidelines and USDA rules, regulations, and requirements.

Experience & education

• High school diploma or GED; or one year of related experience and/or training.
• At least one year of forklift experience.
• Background in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair (or an equivalent mix of education and experience).
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.

Skills that set you up for success

• Foundational knowledge and/or hands-on ability across: welding, plumbing, electrical, control circuits, PLCs, pneumatics, software interfaces, hydraulics, carpentry, motors, pumps, and utility equipment operation/repair.
• Strong attention to detail; clear communication and reliable follow-up.
• Read, write, and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group settings.
• Math comfort: add, subtract, multiply, divide; work with fractions/decimals; compute rates/ratios/percent; interpret drawings and schematics.
• Understanding of production facility operations; organized and able to multi-task.
• Accurate counting; ability to work in varied temperatures.
• Sound judgment, problem-solving, and practical decision-making.
• Basic understanding of GMPs and HACCP.
• Willingness to work early hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed (not guaranteed).
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred (not required); must be able to read and write English.
• Computer skills preferred for maintenance roles.

Physical demands

• Standing/walking frequently through the shift (8–12 hours).
• Sitting: none.
• Lifting/carrying frequently from 1–100 lbs; some tasks may exceed 100 lbs using both arms.
• Pushing/pulling frequently up to 100 lbs.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling with proper body mechanics.
• Frequent reaching/handling for products on shelves, pallets, and forklift forks; handling boxes of various sizes/weights.
• Occasional climbing (in/out of trucks, racks, and pallets).
• Frequent equipment driving: forklift and pallet jack.

Work environment

Expect frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, cold temperatures, heights, airborne particles/fumes, chemicals, outdoor weather, electrical shock risk, and vibration. Noise ranges from moderate to occasionally loud.
