    Position Overview

    The Electrical Engineering Technician provides technical and administrative support to the Electrical and Controls Engineering teams by reviewing, validating, and improving electrical design documentation prior to project release. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of electrical schematics, bills of material (BOMs), device tagging, and related documentation to support manufacturing, purchasing, ERP integration, and field service activities. The Electrical Engineering Technician plays a key role in maintaining design quality standards, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and assisting with the development of technical documentation and electrical standards.

    Responsibilities

    • Review and validate electrical drawings, schematics, and bills of material (BOMs) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
    • Verify device tags, wire numbers, cable identifiers, and cross-references across electrical documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy.
    • Identify and resolve documentation discrepancies, missing components, and design issues prior to project release.
    • Support ERP integration by ensuring BOMs, part numbers, and documentation align with purchasing, manufacturing, and inventory requirements.
    • Collaborate with Electrical and Controls Engineers to standardize documentation practices and improve design quality.
    • Assist in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical design templates, forms, standards, and documentation processes.
    • Support the creation and maintenance of electrical manuals, technical documentation, and product-related support materials.
    • Participate in design reviews, quality initiatives, and process improvement efforts while providing administrative and technical support to engineering teams.

    Qualifications

    • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material (BOMs), and technical documentation.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications; experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ERP systems, or document management systems is preferred.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Understanding of industrial controls, electrical components, panel layouts, wiring practices, and manufacturing processes.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
    • Willingness to learn engineering standards, documentation processes, and new software tools; occasional domestic travel up to 10% may be required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial automation, machine-building, or engineering environment.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems, version control systems, and document management platforms such as SharePoint, Vault, or similar tools.
    • Knowledge of industry standards such as NFPA 79, UL508A, IEC, or related electrical codes.
    • Experience supporting design reviews, quality audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including macros, automation tools, or data analysis capabilities.
    • Experience creating technical documentation, manuals, or work instructions.
