Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) ECMO Specialist, you will deliver advanced respiratory and life-support care for patients with severe cardiac and pulmonary failure. In a high-acuity environment, you will manage ECMO therapy, support rapid clinical decision-making, and partner across critical care teams to provide timely, evidence-based interventions. You'll be supported with ongoing training and a national ECMO clinical network that connects specialists to shared expertise and real-time collaboration. 

Your role will include:

  • Managing ECMO circuits (VV & VA), flows, oxygenation, anticoagulation, and hemodynamics 
  • Responding to decompensation, troubleshooting circuits, and initiating rapid interventions 
  • Collaborating with ICU and CV teams on ventilation, vasoactive support, and weaning plans 
  • Supporting emergent airways, diagnostics, and advanced cardiopulmonary care 
  • Ensuring ECMO readiness through documentation, sterile workflow, and equipment oversight 
  • Guiding transports and crisis response with clinical precision and patient advocacy 

What qualifications you will need:
  • ACLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • CES-A preferred
  • TN licensure (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
  • Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree
  • 3 years experience

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
