DOT Preventive Maintenance Technician II

The DOT Preventive Maintenance Technician II supports Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory compliance by conducting inspections and preventive maintenance on company-owned commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) and related equipment. This position works under the supervision of the DOT Compliance Specialist and supports safe, reliable fleet operations through effective troubleshooting, maintenance, and communication.

The DOT Preventive Maintenance Technician II identifies equipment-related compliance risks and maintenance concerns, assists with corrective actions, maintains required program documentation, and communicates findings and recommendations to compliance management and Fleet Operations. The role also supports incident response, equipment fueling, and ongoing training in critical areas of truck and trailer maintenance.

LOCATION:Odessa, TX

• Use sound judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals under the supervision of the DOT Compliance Specialist
• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on company-owned equipment, including electrical components, tires, and lubrication-related items
• Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance activities on CMVs and related equipment
• Clearly and promptly communicate maintenance findings, determinations, and recommendations for compliance management, including escalated or high-risk maintenance issues
• Identify regulatory compliance risks and concerns related to equipment and personnel, and recommend or take corrective actions to improve controls and operations
• Maintain frequent written and verbal communication with management and Fleet Operations
• Maintain and retain program documentation as required by law and Company requirements
• Support safe operations to help prevent injuries and accidents
• Fuel operating equipment as requested by Operations
• Complete incident event reporting effectively and support incident response activities
• Identify areas for improvement and support process and maintenance improvements
• Under the direction of the DOT Manager and/or DOT Specialist, develop familiarity with critical truck and trailer maintenance areas
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or equivalent - required

EXPERIENCE:

• 0-1 years of experience performing minor repairs involving electrical components, tires, and lubrication
• 0-1 years of CMV/vehicle maintenance and repair experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• General knowledge of the proper use and safe operation of hand tools
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to report information in a timely manner
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities efficiently
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing team environment
• Detail-oriented with the ability to identify maintenance and compliance concerns
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must be able to successfully pass applicable background checks, including E-Verify
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. occasionally
• Must be able to kneel, crawl, push, pull, and stand for extended periods
• Must be adaptable to varying weather conditions, including rain, ice, heat, and snow; possible shift work may be required
