Description:
We are seeking a highly hands-on Taxonomist / Knowledge Management Manager to support two major strategic initiatives: a large-scale website rebuild and an enterprise content ecosystem transformation. The core objective is to build and operationalize a Unified Marketing Taxonomy Framework across multiple business lines and channels to improve content findability, traceability, governance, compliance, reporting, content reuse, personalization, and AI/LLM readiness.
This role is delivery-focused and will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise taxonomies and metadata schemas, building and governing taxonomy frameworks, retagging content across six large websites, developing taxonomy migration plans for a new CMS platform, integrating taxonomy across CMS, DAM, and future knowledge management systems, supporting cross-platform taxonomy implementation, working with tagging teams on large-scale content classification, and championing adoption across internal stakeholders.
The contractor will work within a fast-paced SWAT team accelerator pod alongside the Hiring Manager, a technical lead (Content Engineer/Taxonomist), and a final decision-maker. The team is highly collaborative and results-driven. The role requires rapid ramp-up (Month 1 for onboarding) with meaningful hands-on delivery beginning in Month 2.

Requirements for the role:
Hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise taxonomies and metadata schemas.
Strong practical expertise in ontology engineering, controlled vocabulary development, and data modeling.
Proficiency with semantic web standards (RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, SPARQL, SHACL).
Experience retagging content across multiple large websites and developing migration plans for new CMS platforms.
Ability to integrate taxonomy across CMS, DAM, and knowledge management systems.
Knowledge of taxonomy governance and ability to drive adoption across stakeholders.
Awareness of AI/LLM/RAG and how taxonomy supports AI strategies (highly preferred).
Experience with Knowledge Graph concepts (highly preferred).
Background in large, complex enterprise environments; financial services is a plus but not required.
Agile delivery experience.
High initiative, strong ownership, results-oriented, delivery-focused, comfortable with ambiguity, adaptable, and resilient.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Computer Science, Knowledge Management, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Proven experience in enterprise taxonomy design, knowledge management, or a related hands-on role within a complex, multi-functional ecosystem.
