Overview: Accounting and consulting firm is seeking a Tax Director to join its Private Client Services practice. This is a senior leadership role focused on serving high-net-worth individuals and their closely held businesses, with responsibility for managing complex engagements, driving cross-firm collaboration, contributing to thought leadership, and developing the next generation of tax professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Perform technical reviews of tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, including personal income tax, closely held businesses (pass-through entities), trusts, estates, and gift tax returns
Provide consultation on business and/or personal transactions and their related tax implications, consequences, and treatment
Manage larger, complex engagements and multi-client workflows to minimize risk, meet deadlines, and maximize engagement economics
Conduct or review high-level research on complex and emerging tax issues; prepare supporting memorandums
Build relationships across the firm, identify cross-selling opportunities, and actively bring opportunities to clients by collaborating across service lines
Contribute to thought leadership through technical publications and speaking engagements, both internally and externally
Lead formal learning opportunities and support development of training materials in collaboration with the Learning & Development team
Mentor and develop managers on engagement management responsibilities including billing analysis, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and client relations
Stay current on tax law changes and provide updates and training to the broader tax practice
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related discipline
CPA, JD, or EA designation (must be qualified to practice before the IRS)
Minimum 8 years of public accounting experience in taxation or equivalent
Minimum 4 years in a managerial role involving clients and team members
Advanced understanding of planning and compliance concepts related to high-net-worth individual and fiduciary income tax, gift tax, and estate tax
Strong knowledge of accounting theory and federal, state, and local tax laws
Flexibility to work from home while collaborating in person approximately half the time
