Overview

A well-established, employee-focused mechanical contractor is seeking a Director of Operations to provide strategic leadership and oversight of construction project management teams. This role is responsible for driving performance, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring successful project execution across multiple teams and projects.

This is a high-impact leadership position with full responsibility for team development, operational strategy, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for project managers and support staff
  • Oversee project performance, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget
  • Develop and implement operational strategies and departmental goals
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance reviews across projects
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and operational efficiency (LEAN principles)
  • Strengthen relationships with clients, vendors, and project partners
  • Participate in contract review, negotiations, and issue resolution
  • Support business growth through strategic planning and account development
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards across all projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (required)
  • Minimum 9+ years of relevant construction experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
  • Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders
  • Experience with process improvement and operational optimization
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects/programs on time and within budget
  • Results-driven with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
