Hivemind Capital is looking for a Director of Operations to support the design, scalability, and integrity of our firm’s operational infrastructure. Hivemind Capital’s operational infrastructure supports our firm’s trading and investment activities, which span traditional and tokenized asset classes.
This is a multifaceted operations role that sits at the intersection of trading, finance, risk, compliance, and technology. The Director of Operations should be persistent and proactive in finding ways to improve our institutional-grade operating model and tech stack. While this role is strategic in many ways, it is also a tactical, hands-on role, providing coverage and support for our 24/7 trading and investment operations.
This role is perfect for someone with institutional operations expertise, exceptional judgment, and a track record of building scalable infrastructure in a fast-paced, evolving environment.What you'll do:
- Own and continuously evolve the operational infrastructure and control framework supporting Hivemind's trading and investment activity across public equities, digital assets, and future strategies
- Support and improve scalable reconciliation frameworks, portfolio management systems (PMS), and reporting infrastructure, partnering with technology teams to build out the firm's operational stack
- Set the strategic direction for counterparty and vendor relationships (prime brokers, exchanges, OTC market makers, custodians, and banking partners) and lead negotiations for new and existing relationships
- Serve as the senior point of escalation for complex operational breaks, discrepancies, and settlement issues, driving root-cause analysis and process improvement
- Partner with the Head of Infrastructure, Finance, and senior leadership to shape treasury, cash management, and risk monitoring processes across portfolios and counterparties
- Own PnL attribution, exposure tracking, and risk limit monitoring frameworks, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to leadership and investors
- Lead the implementation and evolution of the firm's approach to digital asset wallet management and key custody protocols, including governance around wallet security, whitelisting, and key backup procedures
- Represent Operations on cross-functional strategic initiatives, including new product and strategy launches, fund structuring, and regulatory or compliance projects
- Develop and present recurring operational, treasury, and portfolio reporting to executive leadership and investors
- Partner with Operations Managers to assist with regular transaction and reconciliation activity
- Act as a mentor and thought partner to Operations Managers and other team members, sharing best practices and helping build institutional operational knowledge
- Identify, scope, and lead firm-wide operational initiatives related to vendor management, budget, efficiency, security, and technology infrastructure
- Stay ahead of industry developments in digital asset custody, market infrastructure, and regulation to inform the firm's operational roadmap
Our ideal candidate:
- 5+ years of experience in operations, middle/back office, or trading operations at a financial institution, with a track record of increasing scope and responsibility
- Institutional rigor and expertise across the full trade lifecycle in traditional and/or digital asset markets, including settlements, reconciliations, cash management, and operational controls
- Demonstrated experience designing and scaling operational frameworks, systems, and processes from the ground up
- Strong track record managing complex counterparty relationships and leading negotiations with prime brokers, exchanges, custodians, and banking partners
- Exceptional judgment and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving environment with significant ambiguity
- Advanced Excel skills required; familiarity with SQL, Python, or other technical skills strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and investors
- Experience with crypto transactions both on-exchange and onchain, including wallets, custody platforms, blockchain explorers, and DeFi protocols is preferred
$150,000 - $180,000 a year
Compensation:
A well-qualified candidate, based in New York City, can expect a base salary of $150,000.00-$180,000.00. A standard offer from Hivemind Capital includes base compensation, incentive-based compensation such as discretionary bonuses or upside, and a highly competitive benefits and perks package. Offers are determined by a number of factors including (but not limited to) the applicant's experience, skills, certifications, as well as internal equity among our team.
