Director of Operations | Medical Manufacturing

This is not a role for someone who wants to manage manufacturing from an office.

We’re looking for an operations leader who understands what drives performance across people, equipment, quality, delivery and cost, and knows how to turn that understanding into results.

The company is a growing contract manufacturer producing highly engineered components and assemblies for medical-device and life-sciences customers. Significant investment is being made in people, technology, processes and manufacturing capacity.

The assignment

You’ll have responsibility for manufacturing performance across multiple plants and shifts.

Your world will include:

• Manufacturing leadership and team development
• Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost
• P&L and manufacturing profitability
• Capacity, labor and equipment allocation
• OEE and equipment effectiveness
• TPM and maintenance strategy
• Scrap and Cost of Poor Quality
• Lean manufacturing and waste reduction
• Planning, scheduling and production constraints
• CAPA, MRB and problem solving
• Training and development of manufacturing teams

This is a cross-functional leadership role. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, Sales and New Product Development.

The background that gets our attention

You’ve spent significant time leading manufacturing operations, ideally in molding or another technically demanding component-manufacturing environment.

Experience with ISO 13485, FDA-regulated manufacturing, cGMP or cleanroom operations is important.

You should also be comfortable with financial performance. This leader will be expected to understand P&L, manufacturing costs, labor, overhead and the operational decisions behind the numbers.

Most importantly, you know how to build a team that solves problems instead of simply escalating them.
